John Woo gets first US release in 6 years with his new Chinese-language historical film "Red Cliff".

It will be shown in theaters of North America in fall this year.

New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) will be held from June 19 up to July 5 this year. The opening of the festival will take place at the IFC center on the June 19 and most of the performances would be up to July 2 there. And beginning from July 1 up to July 5 some performances and the Closing of the festival will be held in the Japan Society in New York. The Opening night film is not announced yet, as well as the Closing and the Centerpiece Presentation films are not announced either. Also the festival will show the Hong Kong New Action Line-Up.

Most of the films shown on the festival would be full of martial arts. Subway Cinema promises this NYAFF will be the best despite the economy difficulties. Because with the help of sponsors they are going to invite “the jaw-dropping number of guests”.

Well known Japanese action star and director Tak Sakaguchi will be there on the festival to present Yoroi Samurai Zombie and Be A Man! Samurai School there. He would be assisted by stuntman and action choreographer Isao Karasawa and together they are planning to perform live stunts onstage before the films are shown.

John Woo’s Red Cliff with Takeshi Kaneshiro was named among them. Red Cliff (the first installment of the two-part film), took in $125 000 000 this weekend...

According to the LA Foreign Film Examiner Takeshi Kaneshiro was ranked as one of the 10 of the "hottest foreign male stars". Actually he was ranked third in the list.
