John Woo’s "Red Cliff" in US theatres

John Woo gets first US release in 6 years with his new Chinese-language historical film "Red Cliff".
It will be shown in theaters of North America in fall this year. According to The Associated Press the right to show the movie in NA was bought by Magnet Releasing co-owned by Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban, the owner of NBA team Dallas Mavericks on the 18th of May. The Canadian release will take place the same time and the owner of the right to distribute the film is E1 Entertainment.
So far that is unknown how many theaters "Red Cliff" will be released in neither the terms of the negotiated deals from both of the distributor companies were given and Terence Chang the producer of the "Red Cliff" refused to name the worth of the deal to the AP but said he was glad that the deals were made.
The two parts "Red Cliff" which budget counts $80 million and starring Cannes best actor winner Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Japanese-Taiwanese Takeshi Kaneshiro brought success in Asia, earning more than $100 million in Japan alone. But in North America the film will not only be released in theatres but will be issued on DVD and video-on-demand as Magnet Releasing reported.
