Typhoon Morakot named so by the Japan Meteorological Agency formed on August 2, 2009 is considered the deadliest typhoon which was ever to impact Taiwan. It brought great damage to the country: 461 people are considered dead and 192 missing in the cause of it.

Such a disaster left no one indifferent and great number of international organizations, countries and simple people were and are providing help to the Taiwanese people. A lot of celebrities are involved in giving all possible aid to the typhoon victims.

In August 13, 2009 there was the Disaster Relief Dinner were celebrities gathered funds for the victims in Taiwan. All of the proceeds were donated to the Red Cross. There were also personal contributions from different celebrities and from the group of actors too. Mr. Takeshi Kaneshiro was providing donation as the part of the Dongfeng Star TV (東風衛視藝人) actors in line with Choi Jolin, Alan Luo, Rainie Yang and Huang Li. Together they gave 3 million dollar to the Red Cross.

That day the total contributions were 47.72 million dollars.
