Recently, the Legal Evening News (http://news.sina.com.tw) made public the "highest grossing Chinese star" rating. Jet Li, martial arts star, and Jackie Chan are ranked on the top 10 list, but the real breakthrough is Donnie Yen who tops the rating. The rating lists actors and actresses from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The most popular stars in 2004-2007 were from Hong Kong and Taiwan, from Mainland China only Jet Li was listed among the top 5. Mainland Zhou Xun, Zhao Wei and Fan Bingbing were among the 10 highest grossing actresses, too.
Donnie Yen ranks first as the highest grossing star in Asia (1.089 billion), then Andy Lau, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung, Leon Lai, Chang Han and Ge You.
Takeshi Kaneshiro is the only one on the list who is under 40 - Donnie Yen, Andy Lau, Tony Leung are 40 and older; Ge You, Chow Yun Fat and Jackie Chan are past 50.
Takeshi Kaneshiro is the only one on the list representing Taiwan.
Jiang Wen, Chen Tao-ming, Xiaoqi, Chen Kun, Huang Xiaoming and Sun Honglei are close to the top ten, but still not making it.
